There are a number of risks inherent to running any business and if your organization is based in a major city there are a few additional hazards that you may need to be aware of. Depending on the crime rate in your town, the chance of your business falling victim to vandalism will possibly be higher than if you were based in a regional area. These increased risks are often reflected in the costs of your Washington business insurance.

There are a number of steps you can take to reduce the risks of vandalism to your business, and potentially lower your insurance premiums including:

  • Keep your building and the surrounding areas well lit. Consider installing motion sensitive lights.
  • Use graffiti resistant paint on exterior walls of buildings.
  • Join a neighborhood watch scheme if one exists in your area.
  • Install security cameras around your premises and make sure they are visible.
  • Use shatter proof glass in shop windows to reduce the risk of breakage

As vandalism is often an indication of a wider community problem, working with law enforcement agencies and other local businesses to develop community initiatives could help to lower the rate of vandalism in your area. By implementing a few extra security measures you might be able to prevent your business falling victim to vandals and you could even see a reduction in your Washington business insurance premiums as a result.
